Mission

 

According to the law of Georgia on “Disciplinary Liability and Disciplinary Proceedings of Judges of Common Courts of Georgia” disciplinary cases against judges are heard by Disciplinary Committee of Judges of Common Courts of Georgia.

Disciplinary Committee hears the cases impartially and objectively, on the basis of principle of equality of the parties and adversarial proceedings. 

Disciplinary Committee is empowered to take one of the following decisions:

  • suspension of the disciplinary proceedings;
  • dismissal of disciplinary proceedings;
  • finding the judge guilty of disciplinary violation and imposition of disciplinary liability and sanction;
  • finding the judge guilty of disciplinary violation, imposition of disciplinary liability and private recommendation letter;
  • acquittal of the judge;

The compliance with the decisions of Disciplinary Committee is mandatory.

The decisions of Disciplinary Committee can be reviewed through lodging an appeal to the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court of Georgia.
